Project Description
Residential Housing Development
This project consisted of the construction of a new housing estate comprising of 14 dwelling units and associated site development works.
This project was challenging from a geotechnical perspective due to the topographical features of the site together with outcrops of dolerite / granite bedrock. Between the outcropping bedrock, loose peaty soil was encountered to depths of up to 1 metre. Due to the requirement to ‘cut & fill’ the site to accommodate connection to existing services, reinforced concrete retaining walls were necessary between new dwellings and between the new development and existing neighbouring residential development.
DRA Consulting Engineers provided full civil & Structural Engineering Services including design & supervision of drainage works, roads construction, watermains and the structural elements of the housing units. Ancillary Certification in Accordance with the Building Control (Amended) regulations was provided upon completion.
