Transportation

DRA’s transportation engineers have amassed significant expertise in the specialist field of transportation engineering. Our team have worked on substantial developments throughout Ireland including residential, educational, commercial and industrial facilities. Our involvement has been at all stages of project development from feasibility to completion of detailed design.

As part of the design phase, DRA transportation engineers examine the traffic implications of the proposed development / scheme in terms of how it can integrate with existing traffic in the area. The analysis will determine and quantify the additional trips generated by the development, and the impact of such trips on the operational performance of the local road network and junctions as necessary. The results of this analysis will inform detailed junction design together with any proposed alterations to the existing road network.

DRA transportation engineers can also evaluate the proposed development / scheme road during design, construction and / or early operation as deemed necessary in consultation with the local authority and / or Transportation Infrastructure Ireland (TII). This process is utilised to identify potential safety hazards which may affect any type of road user, and to suggest measures to eliminate or mitigate those problems identified at the earliest possible stage of the process.
