Refurbishment of the ‘Stone Jug’ Protected Structure
Known locally as the ‘Stone Jug’ this former Bank building is a protected structure. Sarsfield Credit Union acquired the property and undertook a complete refurbishment & fit-out.
Designed by Thompsons Architects, the project included internal alterations, refurbishment and fit-out of the basement, ground and 1st floor level.
DRA Consulting Engineers acted in the roles of civil & structural engineers for the project. A retrofit basement tanking system was adopted to facilitate use of the basement for the credit union. The ground and first floor underwent structural alterations and strengthening works. The roof was structurally assessed and strengthened.
DRA Consulting Engineers adopted conservation engineering practices in the alterations and refurbishment works as the building is a Protected Structure.
